You gotta step out of your normal mind to Run Ragnar

Well Thats me in the red tanktop about to make my "Kill"-  A kill is when you pass someone during your run-

This was my first time EVER running more than 4 consecutive miles- it was my first run of the Ragnar day 7.7 Miles- I ran it in 1hr 10 min approx.

I ran it doing intervals (walk run, walk run,) I passed sooo many people who just ran the entire way... because of my mild recoveries i was able to run a little bit faster and sometimes walk as fast as people ran/jogged.

I trained myself hard for this years ragnar specifically for this 7.7 - i did running drills in the pool and then i'd jump outta the pool and run up the hill then I'd jump back into the pool and do crossfit type workouts such as box jumps and pistols (single legged squats).

I pushed myself until my legs buckled out from under me.

You don't just All of a sudden have this "Train of thought" to want to go train or workout you push yourself to think it.

It's all in Your mind on how far you are willing to go to achieve the things you want.

It starts little by little! the train of thought goes like this

1- I want to get in shape
2- I'm gonna get in shape
3- I'm gonna exercise today
4- Do I really wanna exercise today?
5- Ya I do want to exercise but i feel lazy, so many other things i could do (but wont)
6- just put your F****** running shoes on
7-ok I put my running shoes on
8-OOOOhh my favorite Show is on TV/Netflix
9-ok i'm not gonna go running/ workout - but at least i intended too and I even got my shoes on
10-DAMNIT! I SHOULDA RAN! Now i feel mad at myself
11- its still not too late to run!
12-rationalize -but its late need to put kids in bed, make dinner, laundry, im just plain tired etc etc etc
13-Next 3 Days repeat steps 1-12
14 - day 4 repeat steps 1-3 but change step 4 into- well of course i DONT want to exercise nobody WANTS to exercise but i'm gonna do it anyway
15-put my shoes on
16- update ipod list
17- tell kids to shut up, don't fight, sit down and watch that movie till mama is back from her run
18- RUN
19 - tell yourself-I'm proud of myself for getting out of my mind so i could accomplish my goal
20- repeat steps 15,17,18,20
21- tell kids you love them and thank you for letting mama do her thing
22- repeat steps 19,20,21 over and over and over

You HAVE TO DEFEAT YOUR MIND in order to be fit and healthy- if it was EASY EVERYONE WOULD DO IT- lazy is too easy, and I deserve to be challenged

Turns out you were just a little too hefty

I am kind of devoted to fitness and overall well being. I get kind of tired of hearing people say they have arthritis when they are over weight ... I think to myself "well if you lost 100 lbs I bet that arthritis would disappear! And I know it will unless you had multiple tests that conclude that you actually do have arthritis.

But I'm a short 5 ft 2.5 inches and I have weighed almost 200 lbs which is a lot of weight for my frame! I remember my joints in my knees and hips and even my finger joints would hurt. I went to the doctor they said it wasn't arthritis after blood tests were done.

Well a year or two later I lost the weight and WOW the pain (joint pain) went away!

Working in a physical therapy office I see it all the time and the therapists will take initiative to start a training program for these types of people - its physical therapy fitness - I guess if you mask the word "fitness" into therapy it makes you actually do fitness since you don't realize that what you are doing is actually exercising. It's just kind of funny to me

OH MY HELl BAD POSTURE

Holy crap .... If you all could only see how bad "bad posture" affects the body I think EVERYONE would stop slouchin. Bad posture to me tells alot about ones self.... Low self esteem the more you slouch. The more confident you are the better the posture it seems... And then theirs those who are ignorant and are oblivious that their posture is effecting their health! What's that pain in your back? How long have you had it? Do u sit and stare at a screen all day (working with computers?) or do you lift things all day and don't even realize that you are lifting all those things poorly. Think about what you do and how your body feels when you do it. Also basic stretches can help improve posture and well being. Basic hamstring stretch letting your upper body hang freely as your folded forward -your body acts as traction and it's letting your spine stretch which is what it needs from being compacted down all day from gravity . Ok y'all have a namaste

JIMMY JOHNS, anyone?

I love Jimmy Johns they have delish sandwiches and they know me by name at my favorite location. EVERYTIME I go in I have very limited time for lunch which is why I go there (and they have amazing bread).
Today's win goes to Jimmy Johns

What I'm learning

So this last year has been a huge Trial and learning session. I've grown from 18 yrs old to 26 in one year. It's been rough but a necessary growth. I'm thankful for my family and close friends and to God for pushing/pulling/holding me through this last year

Did we just become best friends

Moving back home to Live with family was a huge decision that I made awhile back, but a decision that I do not regret. I'm excited for my future. Despite all the heart ache that has been done I'm finally starting to feel like me again.
I am starting a new life with a new attitude of forgive and forget, self reliance and rely on others, and good things come to those who wait ( hopefully I don't have to wait tooooo long for whatever it is that comes :-D )

Getting into good old habits like soccer and running, also gaining new good habits.and losing old bad ones...too many to share ;-D. I lost some old friends but I've gained some new ones.

Life is looking up and that is definitely a good thang

Oh Wowza

So for the last 2 months we've been chilling in our apartment. I've kept the older boy outta school and rationalize by saying I'll teach him at home. Homeschooling can't be too difficult right? Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa.

I am so terrible, I will say to the boys I have an educational video, and I will pop in Mary Poppins or Netflix somethingnlike the history channel for them to watch. But they get recess too. We go to the park daily with the dogs. And the boys play with all the children their.

They get their home-ec skills and first aid skills. He'll they even help me put a lil fire out (don't use paper towels to get things out of the oven).

We get movement actives in thru You Tubing the xbox kinects dance central.

They already mastered the computer skills thing. My 3 year old navigates his way thru MY iPad2 and MY android phone faster than I could even put up my home screens. We got out the super duper old Super Nintendo (from the 1990's) and my 5yr old has almost concered it. I declare
An automatic "A" for computer sciences!

We have arts and crafts time. We made candy sushi and we color and draw lightening McQueen
Military life is for people who like things they have to redo over and over and over.

Since I'm not one of those people I have to work around these boundaries and make my own which means that until I am in Utah for this summer and until tylers school is over. Mary Poppins
Gets to play teacher and net Nanny too during educational video time, while mama gets a shower in.
